Q. How do I join the Rugby Disability Forum?

A. Just turn up, everyone is welcome.

Q. Do I have to pay anything to become a member of Rugby Disability Forum?

A. No, membership is free to everyone. But we do ask that people pay 30 pence for a cup of tea or coffee if they want one at the meetings.

 

Q. How do I become a committee member of Rugby Disability Forum?

A. The Committee is elected each year at the Annual General Meeting. To become a member you first have to be nominated and have that nomination seconded. For more information contact David Foster on 01788 544991

 

Q. Parking and access to buildings are my two biggest issues, does the Forum do anything about these issues?

A. The local Community Support Officer attends each of our meetings where we regularly raise Traffic and parking issues. John Burrell is the Buildings Control Manager and the Access Officer for Rugby Borough Council, he also attends each meeting as he is the Secretary of the Forum and a Committee member.

 

Q. Does everyone have a say at the Forum meetings?

A. Yes. Everyone at the meeting has equal say, should an issue need to be voted upon however only Disabled people are entitled to vote.

 

Q. What has this Forum actually acheived?

A. The forum has made several premises within Rugby accessible by liaising with businesses and the Council. We have also increased the Dropped kerb budget in Rugby from £4000 per year to £25,000 and that goes for each of the 5 districts across Warwickshire!
