Minutes of General Meeting held at Hamilton House

on Tuesday 30th September 2008

1.  Welcome & Introduction –  David welcomed everyone and asked if they would introduce themselves.

2. Presentation by RBC Core Strategy/Sustainable Community Strategy by Stephen Marks – David Foster pointed out that today’s presentation is probably the most important presentation to date as this affects you and the future of the borough.

Throughout the Presentation there were a number of questions raised:

Q.1. As there is no Bus Station in Rugby where would visitors coming to Rugby be dropped off as there is no specific drop off point? It was considered a Bus Station was needed with W.C. facilities close by.  The old Cattle Market would be an ideal place as this was close to the Railway Station

All public transportation including Bus Stations would be considered in consultation.

Q.2.  When the new proposed developments are planned, would Bus services be addressed for getting to such places as Walsgrave Hospital as Taxis would be an expensive option?

All road infrastructure would take into account Public Transport to public services.

Stephen Marks pointed out that all new developments would include infrastructure Schools, Shops and local amenities etc.

David Foster pointed out that every idea that was put forward would be taken into consideration.  Everyone still has the opportunity to have their say and tell where there may be better alternatives and why.

A brochure was handed out after the Presentation: if you have not had one of these they are available on the Website with lots of other information www.rugby.gov.uk

The spaces at the top of Regent Street/Henry Street be moved further up the road as at present they are difficult to use and the spaces in North Street Car Park move from where they are now to where it’s level at the top of the car park and also make space for the mobility scheme.
