Better disabled access at banks

BANKS in Rugby have started to clean up their act by installing ramps for the disabled.

The Royal Bank of Scotland on Church Street is building a ramp and Yorkshire Bank on North Street has applied for planning permission for a ramp.

Bradford and Bingley on North Street and Household Bank on Sheep Street have also promised to install ramps.

The Rugby Disability Forum has been leaning on banks and other businesses to improve access for months.

Since the Disability Discrimination Act came into force on October 1 all businesses used by the public have been required to take steps to improve access.
